Companions from the Somerset and Wiltshire District recently undertook their annual pilgrimage to London for Grand Council, joining members from across the Constitution for one of the Order’s most important occasions.

Fortunately avoiding the disruption of tube strikes, the party arrived safely in the capital and made their way to Freemasons’ Hall, where they were able to enjoy a welcome pre meeting coffee and catch up with friends in the bar before proceedings began.
This year proved especially significant for the District, with three Companions receiving the honour of Grand Rank in recognition of their dedication and service. During the meeting, the Grand Master, Most Illustrious Kessick Jones, spoke with pride about the strength and future of the Order, reminding Companions that Grand Rank is not only recognition of past contribution, but also an expectation of continued service and leadership in the years ahead.
With representatives gathered from all corners of the Constitution, the occasion once again demonstrated the enduring fellowship and unity of the Order.
Following the meeting, Companions retired to the Grand Connaught Rooms for a banquet of exceptional quality, accompanied by fine wines and excellent company. Yet, with the weather kind and spirits high, the day was far from over. Many continued their celebrations nearby at The George, where further refreshments, friendship, and conversation rounded off a memorable occasion in true Companionable style.
A splendid day of honour, fellowship, and tradition, Somerset and Wiltshire Companions now look forward to doing it all again next year.
