Wessex Council enjoyed a very happy and well supported meeting recently, when Roger Surry and Martin Man were advanced to the degree of Royal Master.

The ceremony was led by the Thrice Illustrious Master, Richard Thurston, with Companions Richard Cooper and Neil Hawes each taking it in turn to deliver a significant part of the degree. This gave the evening a pleasing sense of rhythm and variety, and the ceremony was conducted with care and quiet confidence throughout.
Keith Surry delivered the traditional history in a thoughtful and engaging manner, adding a real sense of occasion and reflection to the proceedings.
There was a strong and supportive turnout from the Council, which created a warm atmosphere for the candidates and made the evening all the more enjoyable. Both Companions clearly appreciated the experience, and their advancement was met with genuine pleasure by all present.
The meeting concluded in relaxed fashion with an informal festive board, where a selection of local meats and cheeses was enjoyed. It provided the perfect opportunity to unwind, catch up and continue the evening in good company, bringing a thoroughly enjoyable meeting to a close.
